Our Story: Celebrating 5 Years of Virgo & Gem Nails

Five years ago, Virgo & Gem Nails was nothing more than a dream. 

Today, it’s a thriving brand with hundreds of dip powder shades, an incredible community, and a heartwarming story behind every jar we sell. 

As we celebrate our 5th anniversary, we’re taking a moment to reflect on where we started, how far we’ve come, and the beautiful people who made this journey possible—you.

From Motherhood to Manicures: How It All Began

Virgo & Gem Nails was born in Maryland during one of the most special moments of my life—my pregnancy with my daughter. Like many expectant moms, I was navigating a mix of excitement and exhaustion, and I stumbled upon dip powder nails as a form of self-care. 

It quickly became more than just a hobby. It was my escape, my joy, and my way to feel confident, even when the world felt a little overwhelming.

There was something incredibly soothing about doing my nails at home, with music playing softly in the background. I didn’t need to book a salon appointment or leave the house. I could take that moment for myself, whenever I needed it. 

And as I sat there, painting layer after layer, I realized I wanted to give that same feeling to others. The idea for a dip powder brand was born.

But the name didn’t come right away. That part of the story began two weeks after my daughter arrived. I was holding her in my arms when it finally clicked—Virgo (me) and Gemini (her). That moment of clarity and connection led to a name that still means everything to us: Virgo & Gem.

Building Virgo & Gem Nails from the Ground Up

Starting a business from scratch wasn’t easy. I didn’t have a background in beauty manufacturing. 

I had to learn everything—from sourcing high-quality powders and liquids to packaging, shipping, and creating a website. Every step was trial and error, fueled by long nights, determination, and a whole lot of heart.

We launched with just 50 dip powder colors and a dream of helping others create salon-quality nails from the comfort of their home. Slowly but surely, word started spreading. Our customers began sharing their Virgo & Gem manicures online, and the love we received was beyond anything we imagined.

Today, we’re proud to offer over 180 dip powder shades, mood-changing dips, sun-reactive formulas, color gels, builder gels, and all the tools you need to make your nails your own. 

Our line of dip liquids has become one of our best-loved collections, praised for its easy application and long-lasting results. We even created beginner-friendly bundles like our Dip Powder Starter Kits and Gel Starter Kits so you can dive right in with confidence.

Moving to Florida and Growing with You

As our business grew, so did our dreams. 

In 2022, Virgo & Gem Nails relocated from Maryland to sunny Florida. While the move brought a fresh chapter, it also came with big life changes—I welcomed my second baby and found myself navigating the beautiful chaos of motherhood once again. Although I haven’t been able to release as many new colors as planned, we still introduced new dip collections, enhanced our packaging, and built a more user-friendly online store at Virgo and Gem Nails.com.

We also expanded our presence to platforms like Amazon, making it even easier for customers to grab their favorite products. But no matter how big we get, we stay grounded in our roots—offering affordable, easy-to-use nail products that make you feel beautiful and confident.

From the very beginning, our community has been the soul of Virgo & Gem Nails.

• 2019: Virgo & Gem Nails launched with a small but mighty dip powder collection.

• 2020: We reached our first 500 customers and began growing a loyal online community of nail lovers.

• 2021: Our best year yet—we launched our first Advent Calendar, which sold out in just 48 hours! 

• 2022: We released our second Advent Calendar (another sell-out!) and introduced mood-changing and sun-changing dip powders—fan favorites to this day.

• 2023: We hit exciting milestones on social media and welcomed a new member to our family—my baby boy! It was also the year Virgo & Gem officially launched on Amazon and quickly earned Amazon’s Choice status for our bundled kits.

• 2024: Virgo & Gem was featured in VoyageMIA, highlighting our story and journey as a woman-led small business. We continued building our community and brand presence nationwide.

• 2025: We celebrate 5 years with over 180 dip powder shades, a full gel line, and a growing global family of loyal customers. From Florida to international nail lovers around the world, Virgo & Gem is proud to be part of your self-care rituals and creative moments.
